Archaeologic centre of Dolmen de Dombate

It is in the village of Dombate in the parish of Borneiro.

It is a set composed of two superimposed monuments: "Dombate Antigo" (the remains of a smaller dolmen (2.4 x 1.9 m) previous to the great dolmen) and "DombateRecente". This dolmen has an open corridor and a practically intact, covered polygonal chamber and dates back to 2,500 to 3,000 years B.C. There is a tumulus of 24 m diameter and 1.8 m height, topped by a crown of stones although the corridor is not covered. The chamber consists of seven upright monoliths and a large, flat topstone. There is also a 4 m long corridor, formed in three sections and an entrance closed by a stone block. There are some wonderful examples of rock art on the inner faces of the standing stones based on geometric shapes.
