In October of 2006, during the celebration of the Iº Congress of Ornithology gives Costa da Morte, inaugurated the first observatory of birds of this seaboard of the province of A Coruña. Of this way, from the city council of Cabana of Bergantiños, wanted to wanted to recognise the more than thirty years that José Luís Rabuñal Patiño, one of the most important ornitólogos of the Spanish state, devoted to the observation and study of birds in the inlet of Insua, putting him his name.
The Oriel of Birds José Luís Rabuñal Patiño, a caseta wooden perfectly integrated in the landscape, is situated in the beach of Urixeira. In his interior, placed some informative signposts that inform of the migratory routes of the birds that arrive to the estuary, of the spaces that occupies the avifauna in the same, of the rarities that could observe in some occasion, of how recognise birds or of the useful to observe them.

Marine space that occupies big part of the continental platform in front of the Costa da Morte, in the northwest of Galicia. The interest of the space roots in his importance like migratory funnel because of his privileged geographic situation and to the strong predominant winds of component N and NW. It estimates that more than one million marine birds go through this zone during the summer-autumn (migration postnupcial). The greater part of the birds in migration come from north of Europe and Siberia western, but also there are Mediterranean species (pardela Balearic, Puffinus mauretanicus), neárticas (seagull of Sabine, Larus sabini) and of the hemisphere South (pardela shady, Puffinus griseus).
